Tempe Junior Crew welcomes all teens who want to row with us. We understand that some rowers and their families may have a temporary or permanent financial need issue that would prevent them from rowing. Tempe Junior Crew offers financial need scholarships on a per season basis to rowers whose families have a legitimate financial need.
All scholarship applications will be handled discretely by the Board of Directors and the Program Director.
To Apply for a Tempe Junior Crew Scholarship please provide the following supporting documents:
- Statement of Financial Need – Written by parent or legal guardian explaining the family’s financial situation and why a financial need-based scholarship is appropriate.
- Short essay (about one page) from the prospective rower on why they want to row and join Tempe Junior Crew
- Federal Tax Returns for the last two years.
- Any other relevant documents that help explain the family’s financial situation.
These documents should be scanned and emailed to president@tempejuniorcrew.org. If you are unable to scan and email the documents, please send an email requesting a mailing address.
If based on review of the provided documents the Board of Directors and Program Director believe there is a financial need, an interview will be scheduled with the rower, their parent(s) or legal guardian, the President or designated board member, and the Program Director.
The Board of Directors will then decide whether to grant a scholarship, and whether that scholarship will cover membership fees, regatta, and travel expenses, or both.
Financial Need Scholarships are reviewed on a per season basis.
